How to get to Rostock
By train
Rostock Central Station offers connections to all major cities in Germany. Furthermore, regional trains run every two hours between Rostock and Hamburg as well as Rostock and Berlin.
Long-distance connections can be found via the booking service of Deutsche Bahn. The central station is in close proximity to the city centre and many hotels. Travelling by train is the recommended way to come to Rostock.
If you arrive in Rostock by train (central station) Tram line 6 [Track B] direction Campus Südstadt) is the best choice. Get off there, follow down Albert-Einstein-Straße, passing by the University Library and the main student canteen. At the large paved area with seatings keep left and you will already see the "Konrad-Zuse-Haus" – a dark red square shaped building with its main entrance.
To order a Taxi in Rostock call +49 381 685-858 (Taxigenossenschaft Rostock eG).
By car
Rostock can be easily reached via the "Autobahn" (A19 and A20). Please note, however, that parking in the city centre may be expensive if parking is not included in your Hotel rate.
Limited free parking space is available on the Southern Campus in the immediate vicinity of the venue, directly at the institute. Please use this route to get to our parking.
To gain access at the parking barrier, please press the call button and say that you are attending the VMV2019-conference.
By plane
The small airport Rostock Laage (RLG) offers connections from and to Munich, but most flights are rather expensive. However, there are some affordable connections, e.g. to Stuttgart. So try your luck on any major flight search engine such as Skyscanner.
A regional bus (line 127) that is aligned with the flight plan runs between the airport and Rostock Central Station.
For more information, please visit the airport's web site.
It is however probably much easier and cheaper to fly to Hamburg (HAM) or Berlin airports (SXF, TXL) and take a train to Rostock.
International arrivals
If you travel from abroad, we recommend to fly to Hamburg (HAM) or Berlin (SXF, TXL) and use the train to come to Rostock (ca. 2-3 hours depending on the connection).

You can also hire a rental car at the airport.
